Light Up St. Matthews

For decades, Light Up St. Matthews has been a cherished tradition, hosted by the Chamber St. Matthews and the City of St. Matthews, uniting thousands of residents and visitors to celebrate the holiday season. This annual event is filled with festive fun, including live musical entertainment, letters to Santa, photos with Santa, train rides, and exciting activities for kids—all designed to create lasting holiday memories.

Enjoy free cookies and hot chocolate as you soak in the cheerful atmosphere. Most activities take place under a large tent, ensuring the fun continues rain or shine. The event kicks off at 3:00 p.m. and concludes promptly at 6:00 p.m. with the grand moment when Brown Park is illuminated by thousands of dazzling holiday lights.

Please note: Due to high demand, lines for photos with Santa will be cut off in time to ensure Santa is on stage by 6:00 p.m. To avoid long wait times, we encourage you to arrive early—please don’t wait until the last minute!

The event is held at Brown Park in St. Matthews, located at the corner of Kresge Way and Browns Lane (next to Baptist Health Louisville), with free parking available at 4007 and 4003 Kresge Way. A convenient signaled crosswalk provides easy access to the park.

Kick off the holiday season with family, friends, and neighbors—and best of all, it’s completely free! The magical light display will remain lit every evening through the New Year, welcoming visitors to enjoy the festive glow all season long.

Rain or shine! In the event of dangerous weather, adjustments may be made to ensure everyone’s safety.
